Author Guidelines

International Journal of Green Pharmacy (IJGP)

The International Journal of Green Pharmacy (IJGP) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly work in pharmaceutical sciences. The journal welcomes original and scientifically sound contributions covering a broad range of areas, including Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology, Drug Delivery, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy Practice, Biotechnology, and related pharmaceutical sciences.

1. Types of Manuscripts

IJGP considers the following manuscript types:

• Original Research Articles
• Review Articles
• Short Communications
• Case Reports

Manuscripts should be relevant to the scope of the journal and present clear, scientifically valid, and appropriately documented work.

2. Submission Requirements

Authors should submit the following:

• Cover Letter describing the significance and originality of the work.
• Title Page containing the manuscript title, complete author names, affiliations, and corresponding author's contact details.
• Blinded Manuscript containing the main text without author names or institutional affiliations.
• Declarations, where applicable, including conflict of interest, funding, ethical approval, informed consent, and other relevant statements.

Submission of a manuscript implies that the work is original, has not been previously published, and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared in English, using clear and concise academic language. Authors should use Times New Roman, 12-point font with appropriate spacing and consistent formatting.

Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles should generally contain:

1. Title
2. Abstract
3. Keywords
4. Introduction
5. Materials and Methods
6. Results
7. Discussion
8. Conclusion
9. References

Results and Discussion may be combined where appropriate.

Abstract

The abstract should provide a concise summary of the study and should generally include:

• Objective
• Methods
• Results
• Conclusion

The abstract should preferably not exceed 250 words.

Keywords

Provide 4–6 relevant keywords that accurately represent the content of the manuscript.

4. Review Articles

Review Articles should provide a comprehensive and up-to-date synthesis of relevant literature. They should generally include:

• Abstract
• Keywords
• Introduction
• Relevant Thematic Sections/Subheadings
• Discussion
• Conclusion
• References

For systematic reviews and meta-analyses, authors should follow appropriate reporting standards such as PRISMA, where applicable.

5. Case Reports and Short Communications

Case Reports should provide sufficient clinical or scientific information, including relevant background, case description, findings, discussion, and conclusion.

Short Communications should present concise but significant scientific findings and should contain an appropriate abstract, main text, and references.

6. Ethical Considerations

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.

Where applicable, manuscripts must include:

• Name of the ethics committee/institutional review board
• Approval/reference number
• Date of approval, where appropriate
• Statement regarding informed consent

For human studies, informed consent should be obtained where required.

7. Plagiarism and Originality

All submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism, inappropriate text reuse, and duplicate publication.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original and appropriately acknowledge the work of others. Substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical text reuse may result in rejection or other editorial action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

8. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, acquisition or analysis of data, interpretation of results, drafting or critical revision of the manuscript, and final approval of the version to be published.

All listed authors should approve the submitted manuscript and agree to be accountable for their contributions.

9. Conflict of Interest

Authors should disclose any financial, personal, professional, or other relationships that could influence or be perceived to influence the work.

If no conflict exists, authors should provide an appropriate declaration such as:

“The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest.”

10. Funding Statement

All sources of financial support should be disclosed. If the study received no specific funding, authors should state this clearly.

11. References

References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first cited in the manuscript.

IJGP follows the Vancouver/NLM reference style. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of their references.

12. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and cited appropriately in the main text.

Each table should have a clear title, and figures should include appropriate legends or captions. Authors must obtain permission for copyrighted material reproduced from other sources where required.

13. Peer Review

IJGP follows a Double-Blind Peer Review process.

Manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability, scope, originality, and basic quality. Suitable manuscripts are then sent for peer review by independent reviewers.

The editorial decision may include acceptance, revision, or rejection. The duration of the review process may vary depending on the manuscript, reviewer availability, and editorial requirements.

Step-by-Step Peer Review Workflow

Our review workflow is structured into the following defined stages:

1. Initial Editorial Desk Review (1–2 Weeks)

Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief screens the manuscript for basic suitability.

The paper is checked for scope alignment, technical formatting, and plagiarism (similarity limit must be below 15%).

Manuscripts that fail this stage are rejected immediately without being sent for peer review.

2. Assignment to Reviewers

• Manuscripts that pass the desk review are assigned to a minimum of two independent, external experts in the specific field of research.
• To maintain the double-blind structure, the Editorial Office removes all author information and metadata from the manuscript file before sending it to the reviewers.

3. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript critically based on:

• Originality and novelty of the research.
• Methodological rigor and scientific soundness.
• Ethical compliance (animal/human ethical approvals).
• Clarity of writing, data presentation, and depth of discussion.
• Relevance to the pharmaceutical and green pharmacy domains.

4. Review Decisions

Based on the peer reviewers' evaluations, the journal takes one of the following actions:

• Accept As Is: The manuscript is ready for publication without changes.
• Minor Revision: The authors must make small corrections or clarify specific points.
• Major Revision: The authors must conduct major modifications, re-analyze data, or significantly rewrite portions of the text. (This requires a second round of review).
• Reject: The manuscript contains fatal flaws or does not meet the journal's scientific benchmarks.

5. Final Decision

The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests entirely with the Editor-in-Chief / Editorial Board, taking into deep consideration the recommendations provided by the peer reviewers.

14. Manuscript Revision and Proofs

When revisions are requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript within the period specified by the editorial office.

Before publication, the corresponding author may receive a final proof for checking typographical and formatting errors. Authors should carefully review the proof and return corrections within the specified time.

15. Open Access and Copyright

IJGP is an open-access journal. Published articles are made freely available to readers.

Articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.

16. Article Processing Charges

Any applicable Article Processing Charge (APC) or publication-related fee will be clearly disclosed on the journal website before submission.

The journal should clearly state the applicable fee, currency, purpose, payment stage, and any available waiver or discount policy.

There are no submission fees unless explicitly stated on the journal's official fee policy page.

17. Corrections and Retractions

IJGP is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Corrections, retractions, and other post-publication actions will be handled in accordance with recognized publication-ethics principles and the journal's applicable policies.

18. Submission Checklist

Before submission, authors should confirm that:

• The manuscript is original and is not under consideration elsewhere.
• The manuscript follows the journal's formatting requirements.
• Author information is provided separately from the blinded manuscript.
• All authors have approved the submitted version.
• References are appropriately cited and formatted.
• Ethical approval and informed consent statements are included where applicable.
• Conflict of interest and funding statements are provided.
• Tables and figures are properly numbered and cited.
• Necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted material.

19. Editorial Decision

The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board, based on the manuscript's scientific quality, relevance, originality, ethical compliance, and peer-review reports.

Authors are expected to respond to reviewer and editorial comments professionally and provide appropriate revisions when requested.
